AIr New Zealand slows with computer glitch
Last week over 5000 people in New Zealand were introduced to another slow computer glitch. Air New Zealand’s computerized check in service went offline and the airline was forced to manually check in customers and hand them written boarding passes. The airline was forced to call in extra staff to help handle the backlog of customer which was made worse because many travellers were returning from school holidays.
Besides self check-in kiosks being offline the airlines online booking computer system was also down so the airline potentially lost millions in online booking revenue. Once the system was back online the computer system help to slowly catch up by flights were delayed most of the day.
